ABOUT RUMBA JAZZ
Rumba Jazz
Founded in 1990, the group's main focus is performing Latin jazz or more appropriately, Afro-Cuban jazz music (the mixture of jazz improvisations and Cuban and African rhythms).
The founding members are leader/musical director, Raul Rico, Jr. - congas, timbales & percussion and Malcolm Ian Peters - bass.
Training and background of Rumba Jazz
Raul Rico, Jr., has been performing professionally for 28 years. He has been a member of "The Estrada Brothers," "The Nava Brothers," "Canela," "Nuestro," "Sabor Latino Big Band," "Tropical Knights" and "Equinox."
Malcolm Ian Peters has been performing professionally for 24 years. He has been a member of "The Estrada Brothers," "Conga Punks," "Sensacion," "Tropical Knights" and "Brisa."
Today, Raul and Malcolm perform with the Santa Barbara based Cuban salsa band, "Somos Son" and with the latest Latin jazz sensation, the Santa Barbara based, "Songon."
